These are work sheets for children to fill in to demonstrate their understanding of the position words 'inside, outside, under/beneath, over/above, next to, before, after, behind, in front'. There is a main activity and an extention. In my experience the extension seems to be better for children who are less confident in the subject, and is more suitable for those less secure in the meanings of the words. It is also important to note that some of the pictures on the first sheet may have more than one position word that could be considered to be correct. It is possible for each picture to have a different word however, so you could stipulate this at the start of the lesson. I've included the images from the sheet for use on the IWB if you wish.

This is a main activity for introducing/reinforcing tallying. Its fairly self explanatory.

I designed these to be used with the whole class as a starter or a plenary. For more independant children its best to get them to work in pairs for a couple of minutes to see if they can work them out themselves, then you can get one pair to tell the rest of the class how they worked out the first one etc. This is good if you want to introduce the idea that even though 'these two could be a pair' that might not be the right answer. It encourages the children not to jump to conclusions.

This is a really simple starter or plenary to get children used to the idea of splitting a group of objects into 2 specified groups and listing them. You can write the names of the fruit and veg in the list form, or for less able children you can move the pictures into the right list. You can do similar lists of your own to expand on this idea, I just got the images off google.
