Primary EBD Learning support assistant

A primary EBD (Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties) school on the border of Camden and Westminster are looking for a experienced learning support assistance to work with a very challenging child. You must have experience and good understanding of working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds, behaviours and learning difficulties and other special needs. You must be strong in your field, confident, have a great personality and able to hit the ground running. The school in a very convenient location, close to both underground and over ground stations and in close walking distances to local shops. Each class has one teacher and one support, in the reception classes there are about 6-7 children per class and the juniors may have a few more children. The classes are grouped according to IEP levels not age. The teaching team consists of various teachers with different skill set's, art, music, drama etc. They do not have an onsite counsellor, however one who is provided by the borough who comes to the school on a regular basis. The school also has it's owen support team which you will be apart of. The support team consists of a lead support assistant who will be there for you to work along side. The learning support assistants are a very integral part of the school and participate in very aspect of school life, this includes home school visits with the teachers and writing reports of the children's progress in certain academic areas. The school is very well resourced, each class has a interactive white board, they have a stocked liberty and lots of sports equipment. All classes have the same set up throughout the school with the same resources in each class. The school has a intake of 65 children maximum, however they like to keep the numbers to round 50-55 to give all the children the best 1to1 they can. The children come from all over London and outskirts. The children feed into various school' s and settings once they finish at the school, however they do not go back to the schools they have come from. They are a big investor in people, they do a lot of onsite and external training to give all the staff the best opportunities to develop professionally.
