The current hospice
Our current hospice bungalow in Ipswich is inadequate for the demands of children’s hospice care services in Suffolk and North Essex. There are not enough beds and rooms to meet needs, and there are no dedicated spaces for the specialist services required by families. Initially intended for a maximum capacity of 50 families, the current hospice now cares for more than 80 families, which is why we need to move to a purpose-built hospice.
The new hospice
We have been donated a four acre woodland plot in Ipswich by a local charitable trust and we’re planning for the new hospice to be a single storey building set in mature woodland with scenic views from each bedroom.
The new building will allow end of life care to be delivered in greater privacy, provide more bed spaces for life-threatened children, provide private overnight accommodation for families and include dedicated areas for specialist therapies including hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, music and play therapy
The campaign
The Treehouse Appeal aims to raise £3 million to build and equip the new hospice.
Throughout 2010 there will be many ways to get involved, as an individual, company, school or community group, to help raise the funds needed to make this project a reality.
You could sponsor a brick on our woodland walk, hold a coffee morning, take part in the Orwell Walk, or even do a parachute jump - the possibilities are endless!
